Double acting piston seals, composed of PTFE piston sealing ring, O-ring, and X-ring, are used for the piston bidirectional seal of the hydraulic cylinder. It is especially suitable for separating two different mediums.
Benefits of Double Acting PTFE Piston Seals
Double-acting cylinders are widely used and they operate under pressure on both sides which requires double-acting seals.
- Low friction: These seals have excellent sliding characteristics that significantly reduce friction during operation.
- High wear resistance: PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) has good wear resistance, ensuring a long service life even under harsh conditions.
- No stick-slip effect: The design of the double-acting PTFE piston seal minimizes the stick-slip phenomenon that can occur at low speeds, thereby improving the smoothness and reliability of operation.
- Dynamic and static sealing: The design allows for effective sealing in dynamic (moving) and static (stationary) applications, making it flexible to meet different sealing needs within hydraulic cylinders.
Structural design
1. Sealing rings and preload elements
PTFE piston sealing rings: the main material, with excellent wear resistance and low friction characteristics.
O-rings and X-rings: as preload elements, ensure close contact between the sealing ring and the cylinder body to prevent leakage.
2. Structural features
Symmetrical design: the design of double-acting seals is symmetrical and can effectively seal in both directions.
Cross-section: usually a rectangular cross-section with slightly chamfered edges on the dynamic side to improve sealing performance and reduce friction.
