T-Seals

What is T-Seals?

T-seals are double-acting seals with piston and rod profiles, typically used in high-pressure applications. They are designed to prevent extrusion and spiraling up to 5,000 psi and are typically used in static or reciprocating dynamic applications. T-seal designs consist of a T-shaped elastomeric assembly supported by a support ring, typically made of materials such as PTFE or PEEK. This combination creates a stable seal and ensures positive sealing of the sealing lip. T-seals are known for their efficient extrusion resistance in unidirectional and bidirectional pressure applications under static and dynamic conditions. They are used in a variety of industries, including oil and gas, aerospace, and automotive, for applications such as piston and rod seals, landing gear, flight controls, actuators, accumulators and reservoirs. T-ring seals can be designed to be retrofitted into existing O-ring grooves, and installation procedures are often simplified compared to other seal designs.

T-seals Usage

01/

Hydraulic and pneumatic systems: T-seals are widely used in hydraulic and pneumatic systems. They are often used to seal the gap between the piston and piston rod to prevent leakage of liquid or gas. Through compression or expansion of the sealing lip, T-seals can provide reliable sealing performance and are suitable for systems with high pressure and high-speed movement.

02/

Automobile industry: T-seals are widely used in the automobile industry. They are used as seals in engine systems, transmission systems, braking systems, suspension systems, etc. T-seals prevent liquids, gases, and dust from entering critical components, ensuring the normal operation and reliability of the system.

03/

Mechanical equipment: T-seals are widely used in various mechanical equipment. They are commonly used as seals in equipment such as bearings, pumps, valves, rotary joints, and rotating shafts. T-seals provide effective sealing during rotation or reciprocating motion, preventing leakage of liquid or gas and preventing dust and contaminants from entering the interior of the equipment.
Food and Beverage Industry: T-seals also have applications in the food and beverage industry. They are commonly used in seals on food processing equipment, beverage filling equipment, and food packaging equipment. T-seals are usually made of food-grade materials to ensure the safety and hygiene of food and beverages.

04/

Chemical and Petroleum Industry: Since T-seals can withstand high pressures and resist corrosion, they are widely used in the chemical and petroleum industries. T-seals are commonly used to seal pipes, valves, and equipment connections to prevent liquid or gas leakage.
Medical Equipment: In medical equipment, T-seals are commonly used as seals for various medical devices and equipment. For example, they can be used in equipment such as hemodialysis machines, ventilators, infusion pumps, and syringes to ensure the sealing and safety of the equipment.

T-Seals Description

The structure and characteristics of the T-type seal

The structure of the T-seal is mainly composed of T-shaped rubber and two anti-extrusion rings. The T-shaped rubber part has good elasticity and abrasion resistance, and can be tightly fitted in the sealing groove to form an effective seal. The anti-extrusion ring plays a role in enhancing the sealing effect and preventing the rubber part from being extruded and deformed. This design enables the T-seal to maintain stable sealing performance in harsh environments such as high pressure and high temperature.

Another distinguishing feature of the T-seal is its ease of installation. Thanks to the three-piece combination design, the T-seal can be easily installed into the O-ring groove without the need for complex process steps. In addition, T-seals can be turned or compression-molded to accommodate different sizes and shapes of sealing grooves.

The manufacturing process of T-type seals

The manufacturing process of T-seals is relatively complex, involving multiple steps and operations. First of all, it is necessary to select the appropriate rubber material and rigid plastic retaining ring material to ensure the performance and quality of the seal. Then, through a laminating process, materials such as release liner, black marker, foam and blue transparent glue are laminated together to form the base material of the seal. Next, the base material is punched into shape through the punching process to form the initial shape of the seal. Finally, the manufacturing of T-seals is completed through the steps of secondary composite waste discharge and composite molding.

During the manufacturing process, attention needs to be paid to controlling the process parameters and quality standards of each step to ensure the dimensional accuracy, surface quality and sealing performance of the T-seals. In addition, it is also necessary to select the appropriate rubber material and rigid plastic retaining ring material according to the actual needs to meet the requirements of different working environments and media.

Application field of T-type seal

Due to its excellent sealing performance and ease of installation, T-seals are widely used in various mechanical equipment and piping systems. In oilfield applications, T-seals can be used to seal equipment such as drilling pipelines, valves, and pumps to prevent oil and gas leakage. In hydropneumatic applications, T-seals can be used in boosters, jacks, cylinders, and other equipment to ensure the stable operation of the system. In addition, T-seals can also be used in shock absorbers, air conditioning compressors and other fields to meet the sealing needs of different equipment and systems.
