What is FS-Seals?
FS-Seals are specialized sealing elements primarily used in wellhead applications in the oil and gas industry. They are designed to handle large gaps and rough surfaces, especially between the wellhead and casing components. These seals feature large cross-sections and are often spring-energized to maintain seal integrity under a wide range of operating conditions, including severe operating conditions.
FS-Seals Usage and Performance
Spring-Energized: They are typically spring-loaded on the inside diameter to ensure a constant sealing force, which is particularly useful for maintaining seal integrity in environments with fluctuating pressure and temperature.
High-Performance Materials: They are available in a variety of commercial grades such as NBR, HNBR, and FKM as well as proprietary grades designed to provide superior performance in demanding applications;
Compatibility: FS seals are designed to accommodate the outside diameter tolerances and surface finishes of API 5CT casing and tubing and can be retrofitted to many conventional P seal housings with minor modifications.
Resistance to extrusion: Some FS-Seals include anti-extrusion springs, usually made of stainless steel or nickel-based alloys, to prevent the seal from being extruded under high pressure;
One-Piece Construction: They are typically made as one-piece construction, eliminating installation issues that can arise with multi-piece seals;
