Properties of Valve T-seals
1. Extended service life and reduced overall maintenance effort.
2. Reduce or eliminate seal rolling and helical torsional failures.
3. Valve T-seals perform exceptionally well under extreme pressures and temperatures.
4. Rated to over 40,000 psi.
5. The geometry of the T-seal prevents torsional deformation.
Valve T-seals have good sealing performance and are not easy to fall off during the frequent opening and closing of the valve. When the equipment is in the adsorption process, the valve is opened, and when the equipment is in the state of desorption regeneration, the valve is closed. The shape of the T-shaped seal has good flexibility and improves the sealing performance.
Valve T-seals are a three-piece bi-directional seal consisting of a T-shaped rubber and two anti-extrusion rings. T-seals are widely used in the oil and gas industry, such as running tools, wellheads, valves, actuators, and BOP.

T-Seals Design
T-Seals are designed to retrofit O-rings, either in static or for use in reciprocating applications. T-Seals construction consists of a basic T-shaped elastomer, usually flanked by two specially fitted backup rings. Since T-Seals are designed to fit O-Ring grooves, they are available in different widths depending on the type of O-Ring, or O-Ring/back-up combination they are replacing.
T-Seals have a T-shaped nitrile ring, with two hard plastic back-up rings on either side.
TRO style is a rod T-Seal that has a T-shaped nitrile ring, with two hard plastic backup rings on either side and fits in a normal O-Ring groove, facing in for rod applications.
TPO style is a piston T-Seals that has a T-shaped nitrile ring, with two hard plastic backup rings on either side and fits in a normal O-Ring groove, facing out for piston applications.
CPS style is a heavy-duty double-acting assembly. They can withstand pressures up to 6,000 psi, temperatures from -40 to 220°F, and speeds of 4.5 ft/sec.
Conclusion
T-seals provide an excellent sealing solution for static or reciprocating dynamic applications. It can be designed to retrofit existing O-ring grooves (piston and rod orientation) or optimized for specific application requirements.
The valve T-seals design consists of a T-shaped elastomeric component supported on each side by a support ring. The combination of these elements creates a stable seal and ensures a reliable sealing lip configuration. Popular materials include nitrile rubber (NBR), hydrogenated nitrile rubber (HNBR) fluorocarbon/Viton™ (FKM) for elastomeric parts, and PEEK for support rings.
