Introduction

Pneumatic piston seals are essential for the proper operation of the cylinder and their seals are recommended for both standard and magnetically driven cylinders.

Pneumatic piston seals have guiding and buffering functions and can be used as cylinder piston seals with or without permanent magnetic rings. When used on pistons with permanent magnetic rings, the magnetic rings are enclosed in guide seals.

Piston seals support sealing contact between the piston and cylinder bore. The fluid creates high pressure on the piston seal, which increases the contact force between the seal and the cylinder surface.

It has the following advantages when used in cylinders:
• Specially designed sealing lip structure improves sealing reliability while reducing friction.
• Acts as a piston seal and also provides a guiding function. Due to its structural shape, it cannot be used to withstand major radial forces or for long-stroke pistons.
• Integrated buffer design with ventilation ducts to provide mechanical buffering for the cylinder.
• The special structural design of end position buffering achieves optimal piston sealing effect.
• Also suitable for dry air or air containing lubricating oil.
• Asymmetrical groove structure ensures tight installation and retention of the seal on the piston.

Application scenarios of pneumatic piston seals

1

Car engine

Pneumatic piston seals can reduce friction between the piston and the cylinder, reducing energy consumption and ablation losses.

2

Ship engine

Marine engines operate under harsh conditions for long periods, and seals can withstand high temperatures and pressures.

3

Industrial machinery

For the harsher environments in which machinery is located, piston seals have comprehensive properties such as strong adaptability.

Pneumatic-Piston-Seal

pneumatic piston seals designed for bidirectional pressure

 Single-acting

Single-acting pistons only hold pressure on one side of the piston. The seal is required to retain pressure from that direction, which then moves the piston along the cylinder. A single-acting/uni-directional piston seal will have only one sealing lip that is in contact with the cylinder wall or bore.

 Double-acting

The best sealing ability of a double-acting cylinder, capable of sealing dynamic pressure from both sides (bidirectional), is achieved by choosing a double-acting seal. A double-acting/bi-directional piston seal will have two separate sealing lips, one for each side of the piston head.

Double-acting pistons hold pressure on both sides of a piston without leakage. They allow maximum mechanical effort to move the piston along the bore of a cylinder.

Piston seals, both single and double-acting, can be designed for and used with integrated or separate back-up rings and guide rings.
