Structural design

 

(I) Floating valve seat structure

  • Adaptive sealing characteristics: The valve seat seal with a floating structure can float freely within a certain range. When the flat gate valve is closed, the gate applies pressure to the valve seat, and the valve seat can automatically adjust its position and angle according to the actual situation of the gate to ensure the best fit with the sealing surface of the gate. This adaptive ability enables the valve to adapt to the processing error of the gate, installation deviation, and slight deformation of the pipeline system during operation, effectively improving the sealing reliability of the valve. For example, in a long-distance oil pipeline, when the relative position of the valve components changes due to thermal expansion and contraction of the pipeline or geological settlement, the floating NBR rubber valve seat seal can automatically compensate and maintain a good sealing effect.

 

  •  Two-way sealing function: The valve seat seal of this structure has two-way sealing ability. Whether the oil flows forward or reversely, the valve seat can fit the gate tightly under the action of fluid pressure to prevent oil leakage. This is of great significance in the oil transportation pipeline network, because in some cases, such as pipeline pressure fluctuations, process flow adjustments or emergency shutdowns, the medium may flow in the opposite direction. The two-way sealing valve seat can ensure that the valve can reliably cut off the fluid under any flow conditions. For example, at the branch nodes of the oil field gathering and transportation pipeline network, the flat gate valve needs to frequently deal with crude oil flowing in different directions. (II) Embedded valve seat design

 

  • Stable installation and positioning: The embedded valve seat firmly embeds the NBR rubber seal into the valve seat matrix. This design provides a stable installation position and precise positioning for the valve seat seal. During the valve manufacturing and assembly process, the matching accuracy of the valve seat seal and the gate can be ensured, which is conducive to improving the overall sealing performance of the valve. At the same time, the embedded structure can also enhance the displacement resistance of the valve seat seal under high pressure difference conditions, prevent the seal from loosening or falling out under pressure, and ensure the sealing stability of the valve in long-term operation. For example, in high-pressure oil trunk line transmission valves, the embedded NBR rubber valve seat seal can withstand high pressure differences, maintain reliable sealing of the valve, and reduce safety accidents and economic losses caused by seal failure.

 

  • Protect rubber seals: The valve seat base provides good protection for NBR rubber seals. During the transportation, installation and use of the valve, the base can prevent the rubber seals from being directly subjected to external mechanical collisions, scratches or other physical damage, thus extending the service life of the rubber seals. In addition, the base material usually has a certain strength and rigidity, which can assist the rubber seals in bearing some pressure and impact force, further improving the overall performance of the valve seat seal. For example, during the transportation and installation of the valve at the construction site, even if there are some minor collisions or improper operations, the embedded valve seat design can effectively protect the NBR rubber seals from damage, ensuring the normal operation of the valve after installation.

 

4. Sealing principle

 

  • The sealing of the valve seat of the normal temperature NBR rubber seal flat gate valve is mainly based on the elastic deformation principle of the rubber material. When the flat gate valve is closed, the gate moves toward the valve seat and applies pressure. The NBR rubber seal elastically deforms under the pressure, filling the small gap between the gate and the valve seat to form a continuous sealing contact. At the same time, the viscosity and friction of the rubber also help to prevent the leakage of the petroleum medium on the sealing surface. Under the continuous action of pressure, the contact pressure between the rubber seal and the gate increases, further enhancing the sealing effect. Moreover, since NBR rubber has good resilience, when the pressure changes during the opening or closing of the valve, the seal can quickly return to its original shape and sealing state, thereby ensuring the sealing reliability of the valve under different working conditions.

Temperature range

Applicable to normal temperature environment, the normal working temperature range is -20℃ - 120℃. In this range, the physical and chemical properties of NBR rubber are stable, and the performance will decrease beyond this range.

In winter, the oil temperature of oil pipelines in northern my country is maintained above -20℃, and NBR rubber sealing valve seats can work normally at room temperature; near high-temperature areas of refineries or chemical plants, if the oil temperature exceeds 120℃, other high-temperature resistant sealing materials or cooling measures should be considered.

Leakage rate

There is no visible leakage of liquid medium (petroleum) when the valve is closed; according to API standards, the leakage of gas medium (natural gas associated gas) shall not exceed 0.3 - 0.5ml/h per hour. The inlet and outlet valves in the oil storage tank area have stricter requirements on leakage rate and must be closed for a long time without leakage.
