what is Double Oil Seals
As an advanced sealing device, the double oil seals provide double protection for the rotating shaft, effectively preventing medium leakage and the entry of external contaminants.
Commonly used materials include fluoroelastomer, polyurethane, and polytetrafluoroethylene. These materials have the characteristics of high elasticity, wear resistance, corrosion resistance, and aging resistance, and can maintain stable performance under various working conditions.
The elastic material is used to form close contact with the shaft, the metal frame is used to support the elastic material, and the sealing lip is used to prevent the leakage of liquid or gas.
Sealing Principle
The sealing principle of double oil seals is mainly based on the following two factors:
1. Contact surface seal: Oil seals are usually made of elastic materials, such as rubber or polyurethane. When the oil seal is close to the rotating shaft, it will create close contact with the shaft, thereby preventing the leakage of liquid or gas.
2. Urgent shear seal: When the shaft rotates, the oil seal will generate slight friction with the shaft. This friction creates a tight shear seal area between the oil seal and the shaft.
Classification of Double Oil Seals
1. According to the use occasion, double oil seals can be divided into general type and special type. The universal type is suitable for general occasions, while the special type is suitable for special occasions.
2. According to the material, oil seals can be divided into rubber, polyurethane, polytetrafluoroethylene, etc. Different materials have different characteristics and are suitable for different working conditions and occasions.
3. According to the structure, it can be divided into single lip, double lip, etc. A single lip double oil seal has only one sealing lip, while a double lip double oil seal has two sealing lips.
In addition, there are some special types of double oil seals, such as bimetal oil seals for high-temperature working conditions, silicone rubber oil seals for the food industry, etc.
