Where packing seals are mainly used

As a common sealing device, packing seals are widely used in many industrial fields and various types of machinery and equipment, and the following are some of the main application scenarios:

Pump equipment

Centrifugal pumps: widely used in chemical, petroleum, metallurgy, electric power, water treatment, and other industries, used to transport various liquid media. The packing seal is installed at the shaft seal of the centrifugal pump to prevent the leakage of the conveyed liquid from the gap between the pump shaft and the pump casing and ensure the normal operation and efficient conveying performance of the pump.

Reciprocating pump: It is often used to transport liquids with high viscosity, strong corrosiveness, or solid particles, such as crude oil transportation in oil extraction, acid and alkali solution transportation in chemical production, etc. Packing seals also play a key role in the reciprocating pump shaft seal, ensuring that no media leakage occurs during the reciprocating movement of the pump.

Valve

Ball valves: They are widely used in pipeline systems in oil, gas, chemical, pharmaceutical, and other industries. The packing seal is located between the stem and the valve body of the ball valve to prevent the medium in the pipeline from leaking from the stem and ensure the sealing performance and operational reliability of the valve.

Gate valve: commonly used in pipeline transportation systems for water, steam, oil, and other media. The packing seal is very important for the sealing of the gate valve, which can effectively prevent the medium from leaking from the connection between the valve stem and the gate when the valve is closed, and ensure the truncation function and sealing effect of the gate valve.

Mixing equipment

Reactor agitator: In the reactor of chemical, pharmaceutical, food, and other industries, the agitator is used to mix and react with various materials. The packing seal is installed between the shaft of the agitator and the reactor tank to prevent the material, gas, or steam in the reactor from leaking from the shaft seal, ensuring that the reaction process is carried out in a sealed environment, and avoiding the impact of material leakage on product quality and production safety.

Fermenter agitator: In the biological fermentation industry, such as beer brewing, antibiotic production, and other fields, the packing seal of the fermenter agitator can prevent the leakage of fermentation broth, air, and other media, and at the same time avoid the outside air entering the fermentation tank to affect the fermentation process, to ensure the normal progress of the fermentation process and the stability of product quality.

Compressor

Reciprocating compressor: often used in petrochemical, natural gas transportation, refrigeration, and other fields, for compressing gas. The packing seal is installed between the piston and the cylinder of the compressor and between the piston rod and the packing box to prevent the compressed gas from leaking from these parts and ensure the compression efficiency and operation safety of the compressor.

Centrifugal compressors: widely used in large-scale gas transmission and compression systems in chemical, metallurgical, electric power, and other industries. The packing seal is located at the shaft end of the centrifugal compressor to prevent the compressed gas from leaking from the gap between the shaft and the housing, ensuring the stable operation and efficient performance of the compressor.

Other areas

Ship shafting: In the ship's power system, the packing seal is used to seal between the ship's propulsion shaft and the hull to prevent seawater from entering the ship's hold or lubricating oil from leaking into the seawater, ensuring the normal navigation of the ship and the reliability of the equipment.

Automobile engine: Some parts of the automobile engine will also use packing seals, such as the seal between the valve stem and the valve guide, to prevent oil from entering the combustion chamber and ensure the normal combustion and performance of the engine.
