Material properties

Material selection

 

Rubber

such as nitrile rubber (NBR), which has good oil resistance, wear resistance, and chemical corrosion resistance, can maintain sealing performance for a long time in the petroleum environment, and the price is relatively low and is one of the commonly used materials for the seal of petroleum ultrasonic detector.

 

Fluoroelastomer (FKM)

It has excellent high-temperature, oil, chemical, and aging resistance. It can maintain good elasticity and sealing performance in a wide range of temperatures. It is suitable for some petroleum ultrasonic detectors with high sealing requirements and harsh working environments.

 

Silicone rubber

It has good high and low-temperature resistance, ozone resistance, and electrical insulation, but its oil resistance is relatively poor. It is generally used in occasions with low oil resistance requirements but high-temperature adaptability requirements, such as some instruments working in cold or high-temperature environments.

 

Polyurethane rubber

It has high hardness, high strength, high wear resistance, and good oil resistance, but its hydrolysis resistance and temperature resistance are relatively limited, and it is often used in some sealing parts that need to withstand greater pressure and friction.

Common types

 

O-type sealing ring

It is a kind of annular seal with a circular cross-section, which has the advantages of simple structure, easy installation, and good sealing performance, and is widely used in various static seals and reciprocating motion sealing parts of petroleum ultrasonic detectors, such as the sealing of instrument shells, the sealing of probes and instrument connection parts, etc.
