what are Piston Seal Rings?

The piston seal rings of an automobile engine are one of the key parts of the automobile engine. It forms a piston group together with the piston ring, guide ring, and other parts, and together with the cylinder head, forms the combustion chamber, providing good power for the normal operation of the engine.

 

Piston Rings are typically tempered to have an outward or inward tension to seal against the bore or cylinder of a device. Typical examples of where industrial piston rings are used are in valves, downhole tools, sealing one-time inserted devices, and in some higher dynamic applications like reciprocating piston compressors. Piston rings can also be engineered to provide a seal with better overall capabilities than a typical industrial piston ring.

Sealing effect: Seals can maintain the seal between the piston and the cylinder wall and control air leakage to a minimum.

Thermal conductivity: The piston seal can disperse the high heat generated by combustion to the cylinder wall, which can cool the piston.

Oil control function: The piston rings can scrape off the oil attached to the cylinder wall and maintain normal oil consumption.

Supporting function: The seal moves up and down in the cylinder, and its sliding surface is entirely borne by the ring, which prevents the piston from directly contacting the cylinder and plays a supporting role.

 

 

The main features of piston seal rings

Good pressure resistance, wide working pressure range, the maximum working pressure can reach 32 MPa.

It has good temperature resistance and is suitable for a wide temperature range, with the highest temperature generally reaching 200°C.

Strong wear compensation ability. It has strong wear compensation ability and is widely used in various power machinery.

Piston rings made of self-lubricating materials such as graphite or filled PTFE can operate without oil.

 Can be manufactured with controlled leak rates to meet design standards.
