What are JIS B2401 EPDM Brown O-Rings
JIS B2401 EPDM Brown O-rings are brown O-rings made of ethylene propylene rubber that comply with Japanese Industrial Standards. EPDM O-rings are commonly used to seal static or dynamic liquid or gas media and are widely used in automotive manufacturing, mechanical engineering, the chemical industry, and food processing.
Features
- EPDM material: EPDM O-rings are made of EPDM (ethylene propylene rubber) material. EPDM has good heat resistance, cold resistance, and oxidation resistance, and can keep its physical properties stable over a wide temperature range.
- Brown appearance: EPDM brown O-rings have a brown appearance, which helps distinguish different types of seals or identify specific application areas.
- Good sealing performance: EPDM material has excellent sealing performance and can effectively prevent liquid or gas leakage. It can provide reliable sealing in different industrial environments, including water, gas, steam, acid alkali, etc.

Suitability for specific media
EPDM Good resistance to hot water and steam, detergents, caustic potash solutions, silicone oil and greases, many polar solvents, and many diluted acids and chemicals, along with a high level of ozone resistance. However, EPDM materials are unsuitable for use with all mineral oil products (lubricants, fuels).
Selection and design
To ensure a sound sealing effect, O-rings should be selected to offer the largest possible cross-section. The hardness of the O-ring material selected depends on the pressure, gap widths, type of sealing (static/dynamic), and the surface quality of the machine parts. For standard applications we recommend a material hardness of 70 Shore A. Careful consideration should also be given to the correct compression, elongation, or compaction and the degree to which the groove in the installation housing is filled.
Installation housings
If possible, the O-ring mounts (grooves) should be made at right angles and machined with care. Burrs, scratches, and dents should be avoided.
