Automotive driveshafts often use rubber seals to prevent lubricant leakage and external contaminants from entering the driveshaft system. These seals are located at the connection points of the drive shaft, such as between the drive shaft and the differential.

The main functions of rubber seals in automobile drive shafts include:

 

  • Prevent lubricant leaks: Driveshaft systems require lubricants to reduce friction and wear. Rubber seals ensure that lubricant does not leak into the outside environment by sealing the driveshaft connection points.

1. Drive shaft connection point: The drive shaft usually consists of multiple segments that are sealed by rubber seals at the connection points. This includes the connection points between the driveshaft and the differential, and the connection points between the driveshaft and other components in the driveline, such as the transmission or transmission case.

 

2. CV (Constant Velocity) joint: CV joint is used to transmit power and torque, and at the same time allows the tire to remain stable when turning. CV joints usually consist of an inner jacket, balls, cages, and rubber seals. The rubber seal is located between the inner and outer sleeves of the CV joint and serves to seal and prevent lubricant leakage.

 

3. Front and rear axles: In the transmission shaft system of some vehicles, front-wheel drive or four-wheel drive vehicles will also have rubber seals on the front and rear axles. These seals are located between the wheel axle and the vehicle's suspension system to protect the suspension system from external contaminants.

 

4. Suspension system connection points: The rubber seals of the drive shaft system may also appear at connection points related to the suspension system.
